What is a MCSA?
The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
credential
is designed for professionals who implement, manage and troubleshoot
existing network and system environments of medium- to large-sized
companies.
The MCSA credential has been
designed to include a subset of the MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) credential's exams, and is focused
specifically on the skills necessary to successfully manage and troubleshoot
the ongoing needs of Windows Server 2003-based systems. The three MCSA
Certifications are as follows:
Demand for the network
administration job function has grown significantly, and candidates as
well as the industry have indicated that a certification for this job
function is needed.
The MCSA on Windows Server 2003 credential will benefit those with
job titles such as
systems administrator, network administrator,
information systems administrator, network operations analyst, network
technician, or technical support specialist.
A MCSA on Windows Server 2003 candidate should have six to 12 months of
experience administering client and network operating systems.

hours a day, 7 days a week.
MCSA candidates must pass three core
technology exams and one elective exam that provides a valid
and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise
in administering and supporting existing Windows 2000- and
Windows Server 2003-based systems.

Microsoft Certified
Systems Administrator: Upgrade from Windows 2000 to Windows
Server 2003 Certification. If you are already a MCSA on Windows 2000, you may
upgrade to the MCSA on Windows Server 2003 certification by
taking one upgrade exam.
If you plan to upgrade your MCSA certification from Windows
2000 to Windows Server 2008, there will NOT be a direct
upgrade path and will need to upgrade to Windows Server 2003
first.
NB. This upgrade exam will retire on 31st
March 2008.
