What is a MCITP?

The new Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) credential provides IT professionals with a simpler and more targeted framework to showcase their technical skills in addition to the skills required for specific developer job roles.  This credential is geared towards IT professionals who administer a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database or develop business process and integration solutions by using BizTalk Server 2006.

The MCITP certification lets you highlight your specific area of expertise.  Now, you can easily distinguish yourself as an expert in database administration, database development, or business intelligence.  The seven IT Professional certifications are as follows:

• IT Professional: Database Developer
• IT Professional: Database Administrator
• IT Professional: Business Intelligence Developer
• IT Professional: Enterprise Support Technician

How to Obtain a MCITP Certification

Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Database Developer is the premier certification for database designers and developers.  This credential demonstrates that you can design a secure, stable, enterprise database solution by using Microsoft SQL Server 2005.

MCITP candidates must first complete the requirements for the MCTS: SQL Server 2005 credential (one exam).  After earning this credential, candidates earn their MCITP: Database Developer by passing two required exams.

Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Database Administrator is the premier certification for database server administrators.  This certification demonstrates that you can keep up with your enterprise business solutions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

MCITP candidates must first complete the requirements for the MCTS: SQL Server 2005 credential (one exam).  After earning this credential, candidates earn their MCITP: Database Administrator by passing two required exams. 

Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Business Intelligence Developer is the premier certification for business intelligence system designers and developers.  This certification demonstrates that you can design solutions, data transformations, and reports.

MCITP candidates must first complete the requirements for the MCTS: SQL Server 2005 Business Intelligence credential (one exam).  After achieving this credential, candidates earn their MCITP: Business Intelligence Developer by passing the required exam. 

Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Support Technician is the premier certification for support technicians.  This certification demonstrates that you can support end users in medium-sized or enterprise environments with the most critical and difficult support issues. This includes the knowledge and skills to diagnose and resolve all types of desktop support issues, as well as issues involving mobile and personal devices.

MCITP candidates must first complete the requirements for the MCTS: Windows Vista, Configuring credential (one exam).  After achieving this credential, candidates earn their MCITP: Enterprise Support Technician by passing the required exam.

Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Consumer Support Technician is the premier certification to highlight and validate your expertise and skill set in a job role supporting a broad range of consumer desktop operating systems, desktop applications, mobile devices, networking, and hardware support issues related to the Windows Vista operating system.

MCITP candidates must first complete the requirements for the MCTS: Windows Vista Configuration credential (one exam).  After achieving this credential, candidates earn their MCITP: Consumer Support Technician by passing the required exam.

Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Project Management with Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 provides industry recognition to project managers and other professionals who use Microsoft Office Project Professional 2007 and Office Project Server 2007 to manage and support projects in an enterprise project management (EPM) environment.  Candidates for this certification manage projects in an EPM environment and are able to manage project and non-project efforts, risks, issues, documents, task progress and timesheets.

MCITP candidates must first complete the requirements for the MCTS: Microsoft Office Project 2007 and MCTS: Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 credentials (two exams).  After achieving these credentials, candidates earn their MCITP: Enterprise Project Management with Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 by passing the required exam.

Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Messaging Administrator is the premier certification to highlight the skills and knowledge associated with performing as the lead engineer for messaging solutions within a enterprise organisation, as well as the ability to design and deploy messaging solutions with Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.

MCITP candidates must first complete the requirements for the MCTS: Exchange Server 2007, Configuring credential (one exam).  After achieving this credential, candidates earn their MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator by passing the required exams.
