What is a MCDST?

The Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) on Microsoft Windows XP is an entry level certification that validates the fundamental skills needed to enter the IT industry as a support desk professional.

MCDST certification demonstrates valuable troubleshooting expertise with the Windows Desktop Operating System to employers and clients.  It provides a framework for learning the skills that support technicians need.  As a desktop support technician , you will use excellent customer service skills, educate users, and solve hardware or software operation and application problems on the desktop.  You will learn valuable skills and best practices consistent with IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and Microsoft Operation Framework (MOF) foundational operations.

How to Obtain a MCDST Certification

Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician  credential proves that you have the skills to successfully support end-users and to successfully troubleshoot desktop environments that are running the Microsoft Windows operating system.

MCDST candidates must to pass two core technology exams that provides a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise in desktop support.  There are no electives on this certification route.

Core Exams (2) 70-271: Supporting Users and Troubleshooting a Microsoft Windows XP Operating System
70-272: Supporting Users and Troubleshooting Desktop Applications on a Microsoft Windows XP Operating System
Courses 2261: Supporting Users Running the Microsoft Windows XP Operating System
2262: Supporting Users Running Applications on a Microsoft Windows XP Operating System
