Target Audience:
This course is intended for database administrators and system engineers with experience working with Microsoft SQL Server 6.x, who are responsible for upgrading an installation or migrating data to Microsoft SQL Server 7.0.
Pre-requisites:
This course requires that students meet the following prerequisites: Course 867, System Administration for Microsoft SQL Server 6.5, or working knowledge of setting up security, creating devices and databases, backup and recovery, and the import and export of data using the bulk copy utility. Course 750, Implementing a Database Design on Microsoft SQL Server 6.5, or working knowledge of creating indexes, managing locking, retrieving data, and creating views, stored procedures, and triggers. Course 689, Supporting Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0—Enterprise Technologies, or equivalent knowledge. Minimum of one year of experience with SQL Server 6.5. Experience using SQL Server Enterprise Manager, ISQL/w, and isql
Purpose:
At the end of this course, the student will be able to install Microsoft SQL Server 7.0; use the new and changed features of SQL Server 7.0; upgrade an existing SQL Server 6.x installation to version 7.0; migrate data and databases from various data sources to SQL Server 7.0.
