As you are probably aware, 12 member states of the European Union will be converting to a new currency called the Euro € , on 1st January 2002. 

The F1 Euro mat offers the functions of a standard Calculator with an additional Euro Converter feature. Note the Exchange Rate as at 10th December 2001 (£1 = €1.60 or € 1 = £0.625) but given currency speculators might well have a bet on the pound going up or down it might be necessary to update your calculator to the latest up-to-the-minute rate.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

1. First set the current exchange rate:

Use a pin or paper clip to press the SET key on the reverse of the tray until the rate flashes. Then input the current Euro rate e.g.. £0.625  = €1, so input 0.615 and then press the SET button again till the display stops flashing.

2. To convert from pounds (or any other currency) to Euros:

Just type the amount of your currency and press € ( e.g. to convert £500 to Euros just enter 500 then press €  and you get € 800)

3. To convert from Euros to pounds (or any other currency):

Simply enter the amount of the Euro that you wish to convert into your own currency and then press the HOME key.

(e.g. € 800 then press HOME gives £500)

4. To update the EURO rate repeat stage 1 again if and until the United Kingdom joints the other twelve € members or joins the dollar instead).
