Please note that this certification for Framework 3.5 and
earlier ends on 31st July
2013. For Framework 4.0 the MCPD will continue until further notice but it
will not be updated to VS2012.
However the MCPD certification will decline in value as
companies move to newer versions of Microsoft products so it is advisable
to take advantage of F1's special upgrades to earn the new Microsoft
Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) to protect your investment in your
certifications. The new MCSD tracks are detailed
here

What is a MCPD?
If you are developing .NET Framework applications that use Microsoft
Visual Studio, the Microsoft Certified
Technology Specialist (MCTS) and Microsoft Certified Professional
Developer (MCPD) credentials provide a simpler and more targeted framework
to showcase your technical skills in addition to the skills that are
required for specific developer job roles. The MCPD also includes
options for Windows Azure and SharePoint 2010.
The Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD) credential
highlights your job role, featuring your specific area of expertise.

be hosted on the Windows Azure platform.
MCPD: Windows Azure Developer candidates must first complete the
requirements for the MCTS: .NET Framework 4 ADO .NET Accessing Data and
Windows Communication Foundation Development
credentials (two exams). After earning these certifications, candidates
may earn their MCPD: Windows Azure Developer by passing the required PRO exam.
To ensure that developers can demonstrate they have kept pace with the
evolution of Windows Azure skills, holders of this certification will be
required to recertify every two years.
Recertification paths will be released by Microsoft closer to the date.
