UK Training Budgets
in 2004: A Survey by Balance Learning A recent survey by blended learning publisher, Balance Learning, revealed an average increase in UK training budgets of 8%. Almost half (46%) of the responding organisations reported and increase in their training budgets for 2004, whilst a third (33%) had no change. Of those who have an increase this year, 21% have seen their budgets increase by over 25%, and 51% will have a an increase of around 5%. The main beneficiaries of this increase in budget come from the financial services and retail sectors. 47% of those with a heightened budget, plan on increasing the amount they spend on classroom training and with 67% planning an increase in the blended style of learning. For those that reported a decrease in their training budget, less than half will reduce the amount of classroom training and a third will maintain the amount from last year. Again, blended learning is popular, with 53% of these companies planning to spend more on this style of learning, even though they have a smaller budget.
