Q. What are Microsoft Certifications? Microsoft certifications are recognised worldwide and are an excellent way of proving your technical ability and experience. Q. How do I achieve a Microsoft Certification? Microsoft certifications are obtained by passing a combination of technical exams, the quantity and content of which depends on the certification you wish to obtain. Q. Are there different Microsoft Certifications? Yes. Whatever your job role, or however you use your computer, there should be a Microsoft certification to suit you. IT Professional Each of these certifications have specialisations, or electives, for you to be more specific in your expertise. Q. Which Microsoft Certification should I get? Q. What are the new Microsoft Certifications, and why have they changed? The new certifications are Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD), Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) and Microsoft Certified Architect. The new Microsoft certifications were designed to better show your specific proficiency and experience. The Technology Series certifications enable professionals to distinguish themselves by demonstrating in-depth knowledge and expertise in a broad range of specialized technologies. Microsoft Technology Specialists are implementing, building, troubleshooting, and debugging particular Microsoft technologies. The Professional Series credentials validate a comprehensive set of skills such as design, project management, operations management, and planning, and they are contextual to a job role. By validating a more comprehensive set of skills, these credentials give candidates and their hiring managers a reliable indicator of on-the-job performance. The Microsoft Certified Architect Program identifies top industry experts in IT architecture. These professionals have a minimum of 10 years of advanced IT industry experience, have three or more years of experience as a practicing architect and possess strong technical and managerial skills. This certification is granted by the architect community and candidates must pass a rigorous review by the Review Board. Q. I already have a Microsoft Certification, do I need to get the new certifications as well? No, the older certifications are still valid. However, if you want to show that you are skilled in newer technology, it would be beneficial to upgrade your certification to a more recent version, or the new certifications. There are upgrade exams available for most certifications. Q. How can I find out about other people's experience in achieving a certification?
