Set-up Guides & Pre-configured Training PCs available from F1

It takes an average of 4 hours to set up each delegate PC for a specific course. This is due to the fact that many new courses teach delegates how to mix and match different software components such as SQL, Transaction Server and Internet Server and the PC needs to be carefully configured to ensure all components work as intended. Another problem is that some courses are very specific as to the exact versions and service packs required.

Failure to configure PCs correctly often results in workshops and exercises not working as intended and to frustration and delays in the classroom.

For courses held in F1 offices PC configuration is not a problem. However for on-site Microsoft courses, many of our customers have been frustrated by the effort they need to put into setting up their own training PCs.

F1 Customers can, for only £69/week (plus delivery costs). hire a fully configured high spec PC (with network card, keyboard and mouse but without monitor) for each of their attendees on on-site training courses. This saves customer support staff an average of 4 hours per course setup. Please call Sales on 01225 427285 for more details.

Detailed below are the set-up guides for some of the courses we run.

Pre-configuration guidelines

It is important that these set-up instructions are followed carefully, otherwise significant incompatibility problems can occur on the course. In particular, you need to start with a completely empty hard drive on each PC and install a new version of Windows NT. Other points to note include:

  • Many PCs require the installation of service packs prior to sound and graphics drivers being installed
  • Some Microsoft course set-up instructions are unclear. If you have any problems please call Technical Support on 01225 427285 before you continue.
  • Please check you have the correct software versions and service packs the installation.
