SQL 7.0 Upgrade and
Migration (1131) Set-up guideClassroom Requirements
This course requires a classroom with a minimum of one computer for the instructor and
one for each student. Before class begins, install and configure all computers using the
information and instructions that follow.
Instructor Computer
The instructor computer requires the following hardware and software.

Trainer Materials compact disc)
Microsoft Viewer for Word (on the Trainer Materials compact disc)
Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.01 SP1 (on the SQL Server 7.0 compact disc)
Student Computer
Each student computer requires the following hardware and software.
Hardware
The following hardware is required for each student computer:
- Pentium 166
- 64 MB of RAM
- 2-GB hard disk
- CD-ROM drive
- Network adapter
- SVGA monitor
- Internet access
- Sound card with amplified speakers

Software
The following software is required for each student computer:
- Windows NT Server version 4.0 (40-bit version) with SP4
- SQL Server 7.0
- SQL Server 6.5 with SP4
- Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1
Classroom Configuration
The following configuration and naming conventions are used throughout this course and
are required for the hands-on labs:
- The instructor computer is named instructorx (where x is a number
that is unique to the intranet).
- Each student computer is named serverx (where x is a unique number
for each server on the intranet).
- Each domain is named domainx (where x is a number that is unique to
the intranet).
- The password for both the Windows NT administrator account and the SQL Server sa
account on the instructor computer is pass1131.
The classroom setup script assumes that the Windows NT domain name is domain1131
and the instructor computer name is instructor1131. If the names are different,
follow the instructions in this setup guide to edit files to reflect the correct domain
and computer names.
If your classroom is on an intranet, make sure that the numbers that you assign to each
student computer, instructor computer, domain, and so on are unique. By providing unique
numbers for these, you will avoid inadvertently causing naming conflicts.
