Target Audience:
This workshop teaches database administrators working in enterprise environments how to determine and troubleshoot performance issues using Microsoft SQL Server 2005. It is intended for current professional database administrators who have three or more years of on-the-job experience administering SQL Server database solutions in an enterprise environment.
Pre-requisites:
Before attending this course, students must have the following pre-requisites:- Be familiar with SQL Server 2005 features, tools, and technologies.
- Knowledge of the operating system and platform.
- Working knowledge of SQL Server 2005 architecture.
- Understand Transact-SQL syntax.
- Have a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 credential - or equivalent experience.
- In addition, it is recommended, but not required, that students have completed: Course 2778, Writing Queries Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Transact-SQL; Course 2779, Implementing a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Database; Course 2780, Maintaining a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Database.
Purpose:
After completing this course, students will be able to build a monitoring solution that will help to identify SQL Server performance issues; troubleshoot SQL Server performance issues; determine the database level reasons for poor query performance; troubleshoot common SQL Server problems; troubleshoot issues at a data level; identify the offending objects that cause concurrency issues.NB. This is a preliminary course syllabus. Some parts of the course are currently in development, so some elements of this syllabus are subject to change.
